Games and Education: Literacy Trails promotes Mathematical Games Day in Catas Altas (MG)

Bringing together the playful universe of games with the world of education, the Literacy Trails Program held the Mathematical Games Day on October 8 and 9. The activity, carried out in the municipality of Catas Altas (MG), gathered more than 450 people, including education professionals, students, families, and representatives of the municipal government.
With four card games and two board games, a curation of historians and a multidisciplinary team helped prepare the material, allowing students from 1st to 5th grade of Elementary School to explore new ways of learning through playful activities.

The events featured the presence of representatives from the City Hall, Vale, Vale Foundation, City Council, and Department of Education, promoting integration between school and community and strengthening local ties.
In addition to delivering 392 games to educational units, the project also conducted, throughout the year, training for the technical staff of the Municipal Department of Education and the capacity building of directors, coordinators, and teachers, reinforcing Vale’s commitment to public education and social development in the territories where it operates.

The Literacy Trails project aims to contribute to the full literacy of students enrolled in the Elementary School, encompassing contextualized writing and reading activities. Promoted by the Vale Foundation, the initiative takes place in the regions where Vale operates and offers training for educators, managers, and technical teams of public schools, in addition to providing pedagogical materials that engage with the local culture.
