Book launch event for “The Adventures of Zozó” in Santa Luzia (MA)

On September 9th, in Santa Luzia (MA), the Literacy Trails project launched the book “The Adventures of Zozó,” written and illustrated by 10-year-old Luis Gustavo Cardoso Gama Melo, a student of the project. The event was attended by representatives from the Vale Foundation, the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), and the city government.

The work was inspired by texts Luis Gustavo wrote about the adventures of a Siamese cat named Zozó. The narrative and all the illustrations are the result of his creativity. “The book was a way to put on paper the stories that lived in my imagination, but also the places I want to visit,” said the student during the launch.

The Literacy Trails project aims to contribute to the complete literacy of students enrolled in the early years of Elementary School, focusing on contextualized reading and writing activities. Sponsored by Vale Foundation, this initiative takes place in the regions where Vale operates and provides training for educators, administrators, and technical staff of public schools, as well as offering educational materials that reflect the local culture.

In Maranhão, the project covers 23 municipalities, in partnership with the Intermunicipal Multimodal Consortium (CIM), the State Government, Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), and the Maranhão State Government.
